After removing the carpet and padding over 1950's hardwoods, I found the floors had several repair/replacement areas as well as one area where a wall had been removed years before leaving a nine inch gap in the wood flooring. Upon measurement I was able to see the boards were not going to line up between the two areas and since the gap was down the middle of the room, extreme measures would need to be taken. I received multiple local area hardwood estimates from supposed professionals who could not conceive any way to fix the issue other than rip out half of the flooring and start fresh or cover the hardwoods with a laminate flooring. Neither option appealed to me. I stumbled upon Derek's number at that time and he showed up promptly to take a look. After sixty seconds or so of perusing the floor he came up with the idea to run the boards horizontally through the "gapped" area and put 45 degree angles in the boards at the four corners of the room, thereby creatively solving the issue while creating a visibly appealing floor design. The outcome could not look better and the price was far lower than any of the other estimates given. Derek was a terrific pleasure to work with, finished the work in about four days with sanding and multiple coats of oil finish, and was very attentive to my needs concerning dust and fumes. He uses a multitude of high dollar equipment to maintain a basically dust free house during sanding and is terrifically knowledgeable in all things hardwood. He has a terrific passion for his work and I recommend him to anyone looking to redo hardwoods. Thanks again Derek.

Derek--thanks for a great job.  The floors looked wonderful this morning. Derek refinished the floors in my 115-year old house.  It was a great experience from start to finish (or re-finish!). Derek is professional and talented--a true artisan.  He did a spectacular job. I've had floors refinished the old way, and this new process is fantastic--completely dust-free.
